Question-asking behavior is driven by language concordance rather than patients' native language or ethnicity

Differences in patient question-asking are driven by patient–provider language concordance itself, not by the patient's native language, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status: language-concordant patients ask a similar number of questions regardless of whether that shared language is English or Spanish, and native language is not an independent predictor once concordance is modeled.
